India ‘must ban’ smoking in schools

Health authorities in India must ban smoking in school premises to save the health of children, the Education Ministry said on Tuesday.

Schools must take the initiative to reduce tobacco use, the ministry said in a statement, calling it “the most effective and effective way to curb the spread of tobacco use and increase the number of smoking-free schools”.

Teachers should also educate students about tobacco-related health risks, including the harmful effects of secondhand smoke and the risk of cancer.
